Valatie, New York. Certified and Insured.

Boilers, radiant and plumbing for Columbia and Rensselaer County homes.

A registered New York corporation since 2008, working out of 18 Birch Road. Heating you can still get parts for in twenty years, cooling that fits a house with no ductwork, and the plumbing that ties the two together.

The room the work happens in

Most of what we do is standing in front of one of these.

A heating system is not the box. It is the box plus everything bolted to it, and the parts nobody looks at are the parts that decide whether it lasts twenty years or seven.

Copper risers
Carry the heat out to the house and bring it back cooler. How they are run, sized and isolated decides whether the system can ever be serviced without draining the whole thing.
Gas cock
A labelled shutoff within reach of the appliance. First thing we look for on a service call, first thing we add when it is missing.
Supply plenum
Squared off into the joists and sealed. A plenum leaking into the basement is heating a space nobody sits in, and it shows on the bill long before anyone feels it upstairs.
Flue
Pitch, support and termination are not cosmetic. This is the part that has to be right before anything else about a heating system matters.
Return drop
Undersize it and the appliance fights itself for air. Most short-cycling complaints we are called out to start here rather than at the thermostat.

When the heat goes out

Three things worth checking before you call.

Not to talk you out of a service call. Half the time one of these is the whole problem, and if it is not, you will be able to tell us something useful when you ring.

  1. The switch that looks like a light switch

Most heating appliances have a service switch on or beside them, and it is wired like a light switch on purpose. It gets turned off by someone carrying boxes down the stairs more often than anyone admits.

  2. Pressure, if you are on a boiler

There is a gauge on the front. A cold system sitting well under its normal mark has usually lost water somewhere, and that is worth telling us before we arrive rather than after.

  3. The filter, if there is one

A blocked filter makes a forced air system overheat and shut itself down, then start again twenty minutes later. It reads exactly like an intermittent fault and it is not one.

If it is none of those, call the office on 518-339-6534.

Emergency service for heating, cooling and plumbing runs around the clock, even though the office closes at 4:00 PM.

What we are certified in

Three names worth asking a contractor about.

Viessmann and Buderus

You will save money and energy with a boiler built to last. These outlast a conventional heating system, so you are not replacing it every 5 to 7 years like your neighbors.

Unico-certified installer

High-velocity cooling is a different trade to hanging a condenser. The certification is the manufacturer saying we are cleared to put it in an occupied house and have it work.

Certified Rinnai dealer

Tankless hot water, installed by a dealer who can still get the part for it. Save space, save money, and stop running out halfway through the second shower.

Because they outlast a conventional system. Our own line on it has not changed in years: you are not going to replace your boiler every 5 to 7 years like your neighbors. A boiler is a twenty-year decision and we would rather sell one that behaves like one.

Yes, and there are two ways to do it. High-velocity mini-duct runs small flexible tubing through the framing you already have, which is why we carry the Unico installer certification. Ductless mini splits skip ducting altogether. Which one suits depends on the house, not on a catalogue.

Both. Faucets, water heaters, sump pumps, leaks, whole-house filters, softeners and water testing, plus ProPress and PEX for domestic water. We are a certified Rinnai dealer for tankless hot water.
