Plumbing

Rinnai tankless, water treatment and residential plumbing across Columbia and Rensselaer County

Plumbing calls in this county come in two shapes: something that is broken and needs fixing today, and something that needs installing right the first time because it is going to sit behind a wall or under a floor for years. We handle both, and we are a certified Rinnai dealer for the tankless side of it.

Chapter 01

Rinnai tankless, installed by a certified dealer

A tankless water heater from Rinnai heats water on demand instead of storing a tank of it, which means no more running out halfway through a second shower and no tank taking up space it does not need to. Being a certified Rinnai dealer means the parts and the support for these units come back to us, not to whoever happened to sell the unit in the first place.

We also install and service standard tank hot water heaters where tankless is not the right fit for the house or the budget. Not every job needs the more expensive option, and we will say so rather than push it.

Water you can test: whole-house filters, softeners, testing

Water quality in this county varies enough from well to well that it is worth actually testing before guessing at a fix. A whole-house filter and a water softener solve different problems, sediment and taste on one side, hardness and scale buildup on the other, and testing is what tells you which one a particular house actually needs.

Hard water shortens the life of everything downstream of it, from the water heater to the faucets, so a softener installed early is often cheaper in the long run than the repairs it would otherwise cause.

Chapter 03

ProPress and PEX for domestic water, and why the joint method matters

ProPress fittings crimp onto copper without an open flame, and PEX tubing flexes through framing the way rigid pipe never could. Both get used for domestic water supply depending on the job. Which one we run comes down to the situation: ProPress where a torch near old framing or insulation is a real risk, PEX where the run needs to bend around obstacles a straight length of copper cannot.

Repairs and replacements on existing plumbing, and new installations in a renovation, all come back to this same choice of joint method. Getting it right the first time is most of what keeps a repipe from turning into a callback.

Sump pumps, leaks and the drain-waste-vent work nobody photographs

A sump pump only matters on the one day it fails, which is exactly why we install and service them before that day rather than after it. Water leak services cover everything from a slow drip that has already done damage to a pipe that let go overnight, and both get diagnosed before anything gets opened up.

Drain waste vent work, running the pipe that carries waste out and lets air in so traps do not siphon dry, is the part of a plumbing job that never gets shown off but is usually the difference between a fix that holds and one that comes back. Faucets and general fixture work round out the rest of what we handle.

Where the two trades meet

Let Us Install Rinnai Tankless Water Heater

Save space, save money, and get a constant supply of hot water. Domestic hot water is a plumbing job with a boiler behind it, which is why both trades sit in one shop.

An indirect water heater tied to a boiler is plumbing work that only makes sense once the heating side of it is understood, which is exactly why we keep both trades under one roof. See the heating page for the boiler side of that same conversation.

When the office is closed

Office hours are Mon-Fri 7:30am-4pm. Emergency plumbing service runs around the clock regardless, so a leak found at midnight still gets a call answered.
