Valatie, New York
A registered New York corporation since 2008, working one address.
Dan's Heating & Cooling Inc. is owned by Daniel Murdie and run out of 18 Birch Road. There is one shop, one phone number, and one crew, covering heating, cooling and plumbing across Columbia and Rensselaer Counties. Certified and insured, and the office is usually Dan or Dawn.
What this county actually runs
Old houses, older heat, and water that fights back.
A lot of the housing stock in Columbia and Rensselaer Counties still runs on cast iron radiators, and a fair number of the rest have been upgraded onto European panel radiators without ever touching a duct. Neither one is a problem to us. A forced air retrofit is often the wrong answer in a house built before anyone thought about duct chases, and radiant or baseboard heat can outlast the people who installed it if the boiler behind it is right.
Oil to gas conversions come up regularly, usually when an older oil fired boiler has had its day and the homeowner wants off delivery schedules for good. That work always drags an indirect water heater along with it, because the same boiler that heats the house is usually the one making the domestic hot water too.
Water in this part of New York is hard enough that it shows up in tankless units and softeners on a regular basis, which is part of why the plumbing side of the shop tests it rather than guessing.

One shop, three trades
A boiler job is rarely just a boiler job.
Swap a boiler and you are into the indirect tank behind it, which is plumbing. Fit cooling into a house with no ductwork and you are often into framing and pipe as well as the unit itself. Keeping heating, cooling and plumbing under one roof means the second visit is usually still us, not a second contractor learning the house from nothing.
What the certifications commit us to
Three names worth checking before you hire anyone.
Viessmann and Buderus boilers
These are the boilers we push a customer toward when the old one is done, because they are built to outlast a conventional heating system rather than get replaced every few years.
Unico-certified installer
High-velocity mini-duct is its own trade, not a smaller version of a conventional split system. The certification is Unico's own sign-off that we can put one into an occupied house and have it work the first time.
Certified Rinnai dealer
Tankless water heaters are a manufacturer relationship as much as an install. Being a certified dealer is what keeps the parts and the warranty behind the units we put in.
